How to Know If YourWork Visa Is Fake

You may have a fake Work Visa if one or more of the following situations applies to you:

  • You did not submit your Work Visa application at either a SA Embassy abroad or at a VFS office in SA
  • Your employer was not involved with the application process
  • Your Work Visa does not show your occupation OR your company employers name


You received your Work Visa in a very short time – around two weeks

Please note that should you have a fake Work Visa that you are then in contravention of the Immigration Act 13 of 2002 Section 49 and will be considered illegal and therefor may not be legally employed by any employer in South Africa.


If found to be in possession of a fake Work Visa, the holder of such a Visa will be arrested and deported and banned for life from re-entering South Africa.

If a holder of a fake Work Visa is found to be employed by a SA employer, the above will apply as well as the employer will be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or one year imprisonment.
