ZEP Permits Extensions

On the 29th November 2024 the Dept of Home Affairs (DHA) issued Directive nr 15 of 2024.

This Directive extended the validity of current ZEP permits up to 28 November 2025

The main reasons for this extension are as follows:

1. The DHA is reactivating the Immigration Advisory Board who will see to engaging in consultations with affected parties as per the High Court order.
2. To allow the DHA to clear the current backlog which they are still experiencing.
3. To relieve pressure from the VFS application system and their related offices for applicants who are in the process or still have to submit their applications.

ZEP permit holders may submit the following application:

• a Waiver application (In terms of a General Work Visa), or
• a Critical Skills Work Visa application (if your occupation is on the Critical Skills list), or
• a renewal application of a current ZEP permit or
• a Spousal Visa (If you are married to a SA Citizen)

ZEP permit holders who have not submitted any application as mentioned above are encouraged to take this opportunity to submit your applications as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment and stress later on when the new expiry date arrives.
