British Passport
How do I qualify for a British Passport?
Within the British Immigration rules and regulations (Immigration Act 1971 section 186), a person has to prove that they have the Right of Abode by producing either:
-
A United Kingdom passport describing him/her as a British citizen OR
-
A certificate of entitlement duly issued by or on behalf of the Government
of the UK certifying that s/he has the Right to Abode OR
-
That his/her father or mother was born in Britain or on British soil, thus
s/he is British by descent
-
That his/her father or mother was born in a British Colony for either missionary
or diplomatic reasons.
Note that if you do not fall within these rules, you cannot
apply for this visa. Since you have decided to migrate to the UK, possibly permanently,
the British Immigration Service has every intention to ensure that you are eligible
and to confirm you have sufficient funds to support yourself and that your intention
is to gain employment. Ultimately, the objective is to show that you will be
conducive to the public good
