Sibling and Adult Child policy
Who falls under the Sibling and Adult Child policy?
You may be granted residence under this policy if you have a New Zealand citizen or resident parent, brother or sister who is living in New Zealand and sponsors your application, AND
Sponsorship Requirements:
Your sponsor must:

Be 17 or over
-
Be in New Zealand
-
Be a citizen/resident not subject to the requirements of section 18A of the Immigration Act 1987

Have been a New Zealand/Australian citizen/ resident for at least three (3) years immediately before the date of your application

And in each of the three 12-month portions within that three-year period, have spent a total of 184 days or more in New Zealand.

And be willing and eligible to ensure financial support and accommodation is provided if necessary for the first 24 months of the your stay.
What is an acceptable offer of employment?
For the NZIS, an employment offer is acceptable if it is:

For 'ongoing' employment (permanent, or for at least 12 months with the option to renew) OR
-
For one or more contracts totalling 6 months and evidence of at least 2 years of contract work previously

AND full-time which is approximately 30 hours/week.

Current at time of application and granted residence

Genuine

For a position paid by salary or wages (self-employment, payment by commission and/or retainer are not acceptable)

Accompanied by evidence of full or provisional registration if it is required

Compliant with New Zealand Employment law
What if I have children?
You, the principal applicant, will have to meet the minimum income requirement dictated by the NZIS to qualify. This is a sliding scale based on how many dependents are in your care. Please note that your spouse's offer of employment can also be taken into account to meet the requirement. Although the offer must be legally compliant, it does not have to be for a full-time position.
