Who is a Dependent Child?

You must meet one of the following requirements to attain residency in New Zealand on this visa:

Be 16 or younger OR
Be 17-24
AND Meet the following requirements:
Single
Have no children
Be totally or substantially reliant on an adult for financial support (whether or not that adult is your parent and whether or not you are living with that adult
Your parent(s) are New Zealand or Australian citizens or New Zealand residents living in New Zealand

What if I have been adopted?

You must have been adopted before your parents applied for residence and been declared on your parents' application for residence. Otherwise, you must have been adopted as a result of a New Zealand adoption or an overseas adoption recognised under New Zealand law.
