Training Permit
Persons sent to Ireland for Training
Persons coming to Ireland for a maximum of three (3) years for training whether it entails remunerative work, at an Irish-based company will not be required to be covered by a work permit. Immigration officers will not, therefore, refuse leave to land solely on the ground that the person does not produce a work permit.
They will, however, seek relevant evidence namely, a letter from the person's overseas employer and from the Irish host firm stating the person concerned, the details and duration of the training. Original letters are required and should be given to the Immigration officer. In order to prevent the misuse of this facility, Immigration officers may in certain circumstances need to verify the bona fides of persons under this category.
