Who is considered an Irish Citizen?
To be considered an Irish Citizen, one must have
-
Been born in Ireland
-
Been born on an Irish ship or aircraft, regardless of location
-
Had grandparents born in Ireland (citizenship attained through Foreign Birth Registration)
Please note that if an applicant became an Irish citizen before their children being born or if Irish Citizenship was acquired through FBR before June 30, 1986, the children may be eligible for citizenship.
Obtaining an Irish Passport:
Only Irish citizens may obtain an Irish Passport. Documentary evidence of entitlement to Irish citizenship is required and original certificates/documents are required.
